Movie Review- Vicky Cristina Barcelona

This summer has been disappointing for me with the movies. I have only seen four I believe. Iron Man, Dark Knight, Pineapple Express and now Vicky Cristina Barcelona. That is not many movies for me over three plus months.  I was excited for the good press and cast of Vicky Cristina Barcelona. It is the new Woody Allen feature and the cast is Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall and Patricia Clarkson.

I had a Noho day on Labor Day and caught a matinee after a tasty stop at Bueno Y Sano for a pre movie burrito. The movie was fantastic. I am a Woody Allen fan but I do realize he has plenty of craptastic movies on his resume, especially in the last ten years or so. I thought Match Point was a big return of form for him. Vicky is going to go right up there as well. I won’t give away much but its the story of two American women who go to Barcelona for the summer and quickly run into Javier Bardem’s artist character and the story goes from there.  The movie hit on every level. Incredibly acted, well written and directed, beautifully shot, well paced, I was pleased! My one knock would be of use of the narrator. I am not completely against that, but I didn’t think it fit in this film.

If you want a funny, sexy, cute movie experience, throw this one on the date night list!
